Desks

Which type of desk do you need?

Getting the size right

Width and depth are the two numbers that matter, and both are listed on each product page. Some desks come in more than one width: the Prima, for example, comes at 120cm or 150cm. A deeper desk lets you put a monitor at a comfortable distance, while a shallow desk suits a laptop and a narrow room. Leave space behind the desk to push your chair back and stand up.

For a child's bedroom, a compact writing desk or a desk with drawers is usually the most useful, as it leaves floor space for play and keeps homework tidy. For a shared office, a wide desk or a corner desk gives two people room to work. If the desk sits under a window, check the height of the sill against the height of your monitor.

Finishes

Our desks come in white, matt black, oak, walnut and grey finishes, and some combine a white or black frame with an oak top. Several are part of wider ranges: the Lancaster study desk matches Lancaster bedroom and living room furniture, and Paris desks match Paris wardrobes and sideboards. That makes it easy to fit a desk into a bedroom without it looking like an office.
