Choosing a mattress by how you sleep
Start with your sleeping position, because it decides how much give you need. Side sleepers need the shoulder and hip to sink in a little, so a softer top such as memory foam or a pillow top helps. Back sleepers usually suit a medium to firm feel that keeps the lower back supported. Front sleepers need something firmer so the hips do not dip and arch the spine. If you share a bed and sleep differently, pocket springs are a safe middle ground, because each spring moves on its own.
Mattress types in our range
- Pocket sprung: individually wrapped springs that move on their own, including the Capsule Elite Pocket 1000, the Capsule Nature and the 2000 spring Capsule Box Top. The Capsule 3000 Pillow Top has the highest spring count in the range. See all pocket sprung mattresses.
- Memory foam and springs: the Capsule Memory Pocket 1000 puts a 25mm memory foam layer over a pocket sprung core, a hybrid with pressure relief on top.
- Rolled: the Capsule Reflex and Capsule Memory roll-up mattresses are easier to carry up narrow stairs and into loft rooms.
- Orthopaedic: the hand tufted Capsule Orthopaedic gives firm support, and the Deluxe is a semi-orthopaedic option.
- Kids, bunk and cabin beds: the Platinum Bunk mattress is 18cm deep to meet upper bunk height limits, and there is a dedicated cabin bed mattress.
