Two beds in the space of one. Trundle beds roll out from under a main bed when visitors arrive and tuck away again afterwards. Our own trundle guest bed comes with both mattresses and arrives fully assembled.

What is a trundle bed?

A trundle bed is a second bed that sits on castors under a main bed and rolls out when you need it. You get two beds in the floor space of one, which is why trundles are the most popular choice for spare rooms, box rooms and children's sleepovers.

Roll-out or pop-up?

A roll-out trundle stays low and makes two separate beds at different heights. A pop-up or raised trundle lifts to sit level with the main bed, so the two can be pushed together into one large bed. The Any Bed guest bed does both: use it as two singles, or raise the trundle to make a sleeping area 182cm wide.

Trundle bed with mattresses included

Many trundle beds are sold as a frame only, or with a thin second mattress. Ours comes with two matching UK standard single mattresses (90 x 190cm, 25cm deep), each with 1000 pocket springs. It is hand-built to order in Yorkshire, arrives fully assembled and costs £995.

Choosing a trundle mattress

If you buy a trundle frame on its own, check the maximum mattress depth on the product page. A trundle has to slide under the main bed, so a mattress that is too deep will stop it closing. Our guide to trundle bed space and zip and link mattresses explain the options.
