Wide, tall or narrow?

The shape matters as much as the drawer count. A wide chest gives a long top that works as a dressing surface or a place for a mirror and lamp. A tall or narrow chest stores as much on a smaller footprint, so it suits alcoves, box rooms and the gap beside a wardrobe.

• 3 or 4 drawers: a low chest, good under a window or beside a bed. Some 3 drawer chests can double as a large bedside.
• 3+2 and 4+2: two small drawers on top for socks and accessories, with deeper drawers below.
• 5 to 7 drawers, tall or narrow: the most storage for the least floor space.
• 6 wide (3+3) and 8 drawers: a long, low chest for couples who need plenty of room.

Before you order

Measure the space and allow room in front for the drawers to pull fully out, usually at least the depth of the chest. For a chest with a mirror above, check the height of the top against the mirror you have in mind. Exact sizes are on each product page.
