Where to find our headboards
Most of our headboards are sold as part of a bed rather than on their own, so you get a matching base and headboard in one order.
- Any Bed upholstered range: 14 headboard designs, from the wide channelled Amberley to the Versaille, built onto a bed frame or a gas lift ottoman. See the Any Bed range.
- Divan beds: the Luxury Divan Bed offers a floorstanding headboard as an option. See divan beds.
- Any Bed guest bed: an optional full floorstanding headboard, 127cm high, in Plain or Howarth 3-bar styles. See guest beds.
Floorstanding or fixed?
A floorstanding headboard has its own legs and stands on the floor behind the bed. It does not need bolting to the base, which makes it the usual choice for divans. It also tends to be taller, so it suits a room with plenty of wall above the bed.
A fixed headboard bolts to the bed frame or base. On a frame bed it is normally part of the design, which is how our own range works. The advantage is that the headboard and bed always line up, and nothing slides about when you lean back.
Choosing a headboard height and style
Measure from the floor to the lowest thing on the wall behind the bed, such as a window sill, a light switch or a shelf. A tall headboard looks grand on a clear wall but can block a window. If you read in bed, an upholstered headboard is much kinder on your back than wood or metal. Vertical channels make a low room feel taller, while buttoned and panelled designs feel more traditional.
For more upholstered choices, browse fabric and upholstered beds, all of which have a padded headboard. If you want to see the colours of our own range in person, fabric samples are £1 each.
