The mattress sits on a sprung slatted base, which lifts to reveal the storage well. Bedding, winter clothes and the suitcases all fit.

The frame is particleboard with rattan panels and steel. The mattress is not included. It matches the black Padstow bedside, chests and wardrobe if you want the set.
